The new video feature represents another rich new element of the Mobile Entertainment website, as the brand prepares for its online-only future.
ME TV will reside on the home page of the site, and will feature filmed interviews with senior industry figures on the big issues of the day.
The first series, sponsored by Amdocs and produced in association with Mobile Industry Review, is entitled ‘tackling the data capacity crunch’.
It will focus on the deluge of traffic currently running across the mobile networks, the problems this is causing and possible remedies.
To kick off, ME speaks to Jonathan Earle, head of consumer marketing at O2 UK. Earle was part of the team the devised the new data tariffs that signaled the end of flat-rate data for O2 customers.
He speaks about the pressure placed on the network by streaming video and other data-hungry applications, and outlines the thinking behind the new plans.
