NewBay Media Announces First National Drone Show

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 16, 2015) —NewBay Media announced the 2015 National Drone Show (nationaldroneshow.com), an exciting conference and expo featuring Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) video capture technology, to be held in the nation’s capital. Held Dec. 2–3, 2015 in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and co-located with NewBay Media’s Government Video Expo, the National Drone Show will bring thousands of video professionals together for two days of cutting-edge discussions and demos of the latest UAV and video capture, management, and delivery technologies and techniques.

“Drones have exploded onto the radar of virtually every industry,” said Carmel King, NewBay Media Executive Vice President, Broadcast & Video Group. “They raise fascinating business possibilities as well as new considerations involving regulation, security, privacy, and safety.

“This is also a marketplace of vast potential; by some estimates, sales of unmanned aerial systems are expected to exceed $8 billion by 2018, with the commercial sector exceeding $5 billion. We’re pleased to bring the discussion about drones to the heart of the nation’s capital.”

The National Drone Show will feature a Drone Flying Cage; free-to-attend sessions on the exhibit floor covering the latest drone technologies and regulatory topics; and in-depth paid training sessions for UAV users produced in partnership with Stampede.

The show is the only such event that brings together an audience of thousands of video professionals from the Washington region’s government, military, law enforcement, enterprise, broadcast, cable, production, and post production communities. Invited exhibitors include drone manufacturers, drone accessory equipment companies, and drone software and service providers.

Stampede is the charter Gold Sponsor of the National Drone Show.

“The National Drone Show will mark the first time that video professionals will have the opportunity to focus fully on the impact Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Drone Video Systems can have on their operations,” said Kevin Kelly, Stampede President & COO. “The show’s presentations and training sessions will provide attendees with the information, tools, and resources required to evolve their business to capitalize on this multibillion-dollar profit opportunity.”

Instructors from Unmanned Vehicle University, the only university in the world licensed to offer graduate degree programs in Unmanned Systems Engineering, will conduct drone-operating demonstrations in the show’s Flying Cage. Show attendees can experience firsthand the differing capabilities of various UAV manufacturers — such as DJI, AEE, and XLY — and learn which is best suited for their enterprise’s unique needs and requirements.

In the remainder of 2015, AV-iQ plans to add more sales staff in order to reach and serve even more of the industry and to help to demonstrate a growing number of marketing opportunities for manufacturers, distributors, and dealers alike. In addition, as the number users and sponsors grow, the need for a new training and technical support staff is needed, so AV-iQ will be adding a team that is available for any end-user questions as well as scheduled training for their clients.

AV-iQ also plans to add additional services throughout 2015 and 2016 that will take further advantage of robust, growing database. As part of these services, new annual participation will now come with a defined number of hours of training, under a variety of topics, in order to ensure that all of the outstanding tools are fully utilized.

“This is an excellent time to be a part of AV-iQ,” says Loftus. “We will work with every sponsor and end user to make sure that the myriad of opportunities that AV-iQ offers is explored and put into action. If you are a member, we look forward to helping your business grow along with ours. If you aren’t, then you should sign up today and see what AV-iQ can do for you.”

13th Annual Hispanic Television Summit to Be Keynoted by GroupM Multicultural’s Gonzalo del Fa and Major League Soccer’s Gary R. Stevenson

NEW YORK, NY (July 22, 2015) — Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News today announced that Gonzalo del Fa, President, GroupM Multicultural and Gary R. Stevenson, President and Managing Director, MLS Business Ventures, have been named opening and closing keynote speakers for NewBay Media’s 13th Annual Hispanic Television Summit.  The premier one-day conference covering the business of Hispanic television in the United States, Latin America and around the world is set for Thursday October 22 at the Park Central Hotel New York.

This year, for the first time, the Hispanic Television Summit will be one of the signature events that make up New York City Television Week, which also includes The Next TV Summit & Expo, The Content Show, Advanced Advertising and the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.

“The Hispanic Television Summit is always one of our most popular conferences of the year,” said Louis Hillelson, VP/Group Publisher, Broadcasting & Cable/Multichannel News. “By bringing it under the New York City Television Week umbrella, our attendees will be a wide cross-section of the general market with the Hispanic television communities. This will bring added value to their participation. It’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to learn from each other, network and be inspired.” Hillelson continued, “Our keynoters represent two areas of greatest interest to our attendees, one being ad-spend targeting Hispanic viewers, and the other being the changes affecting the immediate future of televised soccer.”

Delivering the opening keynote, del Fa will discuss Turning Loyal Viewers into Your New Customers.  In his position as President of GroupM Multicultural, del Fa leads all aspects of the multicultural media and marketing efforts initiated by GroupM agencies includng Mindshare, MEC, Mediacom, Maxus and more.  Under del Fa’s leadership, GroupM Multicultural handles over $600 million in billings from clients such as Nestle, AT&T, Unilever, Anheuser Busch, Mars, Colgate, Lancôme, Abbott, Netflix, Church & Dwight, Subway, Kimberly Clark and KFC.  del Fa joined GroupM in 2003 as Managing Director of MEC Argentina.

Last year, MLS received the Leadership in Hispanic Television Award at this summit, so it is fitting that Stevenson’s closing keynote will be A Look Ahead at the Business of Soccer on Television.  An innovator in sports marketing and media strategies for more than 35 years, Stevenson was named president and managing director of MLS Business Ventures in 2013.  Stevenson oversees the commercial side of MLS, which includes Soccer United Marketing (SUM), media/broadcasting, club services, international, marketing, content and digital.  In addition to launching and building OnSport, a highly successful sports marketing and television consulting firm in 1997 and selling it to the Wasserman Media Group in 2007, Stevenson has served as a senior-level executive at the NBA and PGA TOUR.  He also was the COO and oversaw the launch of two television networks, The Golf Channel in 1995 and the Pac-12 Networks in 2012.

The Hispanic Television Summit is the premier event for those in the business of television for Hispanic audiences and covers programming, advertising, online distribution technology and this year will especially feature the genre of telenovelas. Over 500 executives attend from the U.S., Latin America, Europe and other territories, representing broadcasters, pay TV providers, over-the-top digital providers, programming networks, production companies, advertisers, ad agencies, technology suppliers, research firms, investors and more.

The Summit includes the presentation of the Leadership in Hispanic Television Award as well as the Award for Achievement in Hispanic Television.
